Sarah and Frank recently had thier engagement photos made for their upcoming wedding. They seemed like they were on top of the world at the idea of getting married. So we wanted to give them some photos that showed how they feel about each other. They are getting married Sept 5 at Governor's Club and we are sure it will be the first of many happily married days for

Sarah and Frank.

A Vibrant Dress for a Fun Bride

Ashley is creative. Her creativity shows in her music. She plays guitar, sings and writes music. I also shows in everything she does, even her wedding dress. She didn't plan on getting wedding dress that was a little different, but when she tried it on she knew it was hers. The dress is a lot like her full of energy and life. We think she is a joy to photograph.

Her creativity also shows in her choice of a wedding location. She chose beautiful Cedarwood for her wedding and reception location. This is one of our favorite wedding locations. They offer the beautiful grounds to their brides for Bridal Portraits. Sometimes they are taken months before the wedding sometimes like Ashley, only a few weeks ahead. Bridal portraits are mostly a southern thing, but the rest of the country is catching on to this tradition. Ashley isn't a Southerner by birth, however she is full of southern charm. She said she chose this location for many reasons such as they offered a package that covered almost everything she needed including cake, music, food flowers, and decorations. She loved how nice everyone was to work with. Ashley also said, " the red barn reminded reminded me of my family farm."

Ashley and her brother were very close. He passed away a few years ago and Ashley had a button made with a photo of them together to wear on her bouquet for her bridal photos and on her wedding day. Weddings always "mush me out" (ok Doug is even worse than me about the crying), but this a touching reminder of how important families are especially on wedding days.

We are really looking forward to Ashley and Chad's wedding day in September. WOW it is almost September. Where has the summer gone. Thankfully it still looks like summer with all the flowers in bloom at Cedarwood so we know it will be a special day.

A Perfect Day for a Bridal Session

4:08 PM / Posted by Arline & Douglas Beets - Ace Photography / comments (1)

After all the rain last week we have been busy with Bridal and engagement sessions. The weather has been great and a little cooler than normal, which is perfect for bridal photos since wedding dresses can get hot under all those layers. I have no idea why only in the south is it popular to do a photo session of the bride a few weeks to a few months before the wedding. It saves so much time on the wedding day and gives the bride a chance to see if the make-up and hair are exactly what she wants for the wedding day. Heather Ann recently had her bridal portrait at Cedarwood wher she is having her wedding in October. Cedarwood is such a great historic location with flower gardens, water features, an old barn, swing, old truck and way to many things to photograph.

She was so relaxed and poised you would think she modeled for a living. She was so much fun to work with we cannot wait for her wedding. Another advantage of a bridal portrait session is the opportunity to see if the dress needs further alterations (standing in front of the bridal shop mirror for 5 minutes doesn't tell you if it pulls up or slides down or moves with you).

We suggest the bride get a slightly smaller version of her bouquet to make sure she loves the flowers. Fortunately that is not problem at a Cedarwood wedding.

Karen Wright is one of Nashville's top florist and does an amazing job. The bouquets are not only fresh and up to date, they stay together and are easy to hold. The only way a bride can get her experiese is to book a wedding at Cedarwood.

Heather also wanted some cool city shots to compliment her country photos, so went to dowtown Nashville.

While we were shooting near broadway a country music television crew was filming a comedy segment for an upcoming show. Who knew Heather was such a comedian?

Brides, Awards and a Tank

9:31 AM / Posted by Arline & Douglas Beets - Ace Photography / comments (0)

We recently attended Tennessee Professional Photographers annual convention in Franklin. This is always a great opportunity to attended advanced photography classes, see our photography friends, and enter images in the print competition. We had so many great speakers our heads are exploding with new ideas for our brides and grooms. We will be introducing some great new products soon that we learned about at the vendor trade show. There were a lot of great photographers who entered some amazing images we enjoyed. We were fortunate to place in the top ten photographers in the state five years in a row. We received a best of show in the commercial photography and the wedding and social event categories. We also received two prestigious Fuji Masterpiece Awards and two Kodak Gallery Awards for excellence in photography. We also received a first place for our storybook wedding album and and 12 other awards. Since Doug is president of the Professional Photographers of Middle Tennessee, it was also a special honor to receive the State "Tank Award". This award honors the organization that had the highest print scores. Awards are great to receive; however, we love entering the competitions because they make us stretch and grow as photographers and create even better images for our brides and grooms.
